What this site is

Une Plante Artificielle is a blog. New articles go up when they are ready, and everything we have published stays available in the blog archive.

Une Plante Artificielle began because the straight answers about artificial plants were scattered across forum threads, comment sections, and messages nobody archived. We decided to write them down properly instead.

What we publish

• Buying Guides. How to judge an artificial plant before you pay, and what the price is actually buying you.
• Materials. Silk, polyester, latex and plastic, how each one ages, and which claims on the label mean nothing.
• Room by Room. Placing greenery in the corners where nothing living will grow, from windowless offices to steam filled bathrooms.
• Care and Cleaning. Dust, fading and bent stems. The small routines that decide whether a faux plant lasts two years or ten.
• Styling. Pots, scale and arrangement, and why the right plant in the wrong container still looks wrong.
• Real vs Faux. Honest comparisons, including the cases where a living plant is cheaper, easier and simply better.

Articles are filed under one topic each, so an archive page is a real reading list rather than a pile of loosely related pages.

How we work

We write from notes taken while doing the thing, not from a summary of other summaries. Where we are unsure, the page says so in plain words.

We keep the commercial side visible. Some outbound links earn us money, and that never buys a change to the text around them.

Who writes here

Every article carries the name of the person who wrote it, and every name links to a page listing everything else they have written.

Camille Rousseau, Founder and buyer. Camille started buying artificial plants for a flat with one north facing window and kept a spreadsheet of what survived the years and what turned grey. That spreadsheet became this site. She still does most of the buying, and she pays for it herself.

Owen Bradshaw, Materials and durability. Owen spent years around plastics and coatings before he wrote a word about decor, which is why he is difficult about the phrase UV rated. He runs the fade tests here and reports the ones that go badly as well as the ones that do not.

Priya Raman, Styling and rooms. Priya has decorated rented flats for over a decade, most of them with bad light and rules against drilling. She thinks about scale and placement first and shopping second, which is usually the cheaper order to think in.

Corrections
